Over 100 Aircraft Models Approved For the S-TEC 3100

Genesys Aerosystems achieves major milestone for their latest autopilot in less than 10 months

Mineral Wells, TX (September 26, 2018) –– Genesys Aerosystems, leading manufacturer of autopilots and stability augmentation systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, announces today that it has earned FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval of the S-TEC 3100 on the Cessna 310, 320, 335, 340, 340A, 414, 421, 425 and Piper PA-46. With this announcement, the total number of aircraft models approved for the S-TEC 3100 is over 100.

The S-TEC 3100, which has already been certified on the Cessna 177, 182, 210, Piper PA-32 and Beechcraft Bonanza A35/36, is a 2-axis attitude based, digital autopilot (3-axis available on some models) and brings enhanced features such as automatic trim, envelope protection and alerting, one button straight and level recovery, indicated airspeed hold and altitude preselect (requires baro input). With a built-in AHRS, the 3100 can also support a variety of panel configurations, both glass, and analog 6-pack.

“This major milestone is a tribute to our 40 years of expertise with autopilots. In less than 10 months, we were able to certify the 3100 in more than 100 airframes and we aren’t stopping there.” said Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are excited for the next 6 months and beyond as we will be adding more and larger aircraft to our STC.” Luster added.

The design of the S-TEC 3100 allows customers with previous S-TEC autopilots to retain their servos and upgrade to the latest digital offering at a much lower price and installation time. The S-TEC 3100 drives servos differently, using Pulse Width Modulation (see Luster’s recent servo blog) to make precise movement inputs. Pricing for S-TEC 3100 upgrades start at $9,995 and for new installation of the S-TEC 3100 (2-axis) is $19,995.

Next on the 3100 STC roadmap and to be expected in the coming months:

  • King Air 100 Series
  • Cessna P210 & A – J
  • Beech 1900C
  • Cessna 303
  • Baron/Travel Air 55, 56, 58 & 95 Series
  • King Air 90 Series (including the F90)
  • Mooney M20

Shipping for the Cessna 310, 320, 335, 340, 340A, 414, 421, 425 and Piper PA-46 should start the beginning of November.
