No matter how you measure it, Heli-EXPO 2017 was huge.

I promised you in a recent blog that Genesys Aerosystems had some really big news to share at Heli-EXPO 2017. Well, in case you haven’t seen the write ups, here it is: MD Helicopters has selected our Integrated Display Units (IDUs) for three of its new helicopter models – the MD 902 Explorer, the MD 530G Scout Attack Helicopter and the all-new MD 6XX concept aircraft.

As MD Helicopter’s CEO, Lynn Tilton said during the press briefing on the MD 902, “We are thrilled to be partnered with Genesys Aerosystems for our twin-engine, glass cockpit initiative. I have worked alongside my MD team to deliver a highly capable and customizable next-generation glass cockpit solution for our MD 902 operators,” she said.

Lynn also said, “After an exhaustive search and ongoing evaluation of available and developing glass cockpit systems, I am confident that the Genesys IDU-680 will deliver rapid and enduring innovations for our operators. Its 100-percent digital open architecture and field upgradeability will enable rapid integration and certification on not only the MD 902, but across our growing scout attack platforms as well.”

“I am inspired by the capability enhancements this partnership with Genesys Aerosystems will deliver,” she added. “I look forward to a long and exciting collaboration with the Genesys team, and to ensuring MD Helicopters’ operators are always flying on the leading edge of technology and design.”

So do we Lynn…

While, the MD Helicopters announcements were huge for us, they weren’t the only news Genesys Aerosystems made at Heli-EXPO. We joined with our Russian distributor, HELIATICA, to announce we recently received validation by the Aviation Register of the Russian Federation for our FAA STC to install our HeliSAS Stability Augmentation System and Autopilot onboard the Robinson Helicopters R44 and R66, and the Airbus Helicopters H125 family.

In addition to that validation, HELIATICA also announced that they had recently completed the first HeliSAS installation on an Airbus H1300 helicopter. This work was done in cooperation with Heliswiss Iberica, a Barcelona-based MRO provider and a Genesys Aerosystems authorized distributor and service center.

While the MD and HELIATICA news was huge, it wasn’t all that Genesys and our various helicopter customers and dealers had going on. Leonardo helicopters had our EFDs in their display helicopters and Airwork had a really beautiful new Genesys panel for their BK117 upgrade.

Along with all that, many of our dealers’ booths were alight with Genesys regalia. It was really exciting and humbling to see how far Genesys Aerosystems has come in such a short time.

Of course, back in the Genesys booth we had a constant flow of helicopter manufacturers, operators and members of the media coming in to “fly” our new integrated helicopter cockpit systems demonstrator. It’s really a pretty cool set up. And the perfect way to experience all that Genesys Aerosystems has to offer.

As I said earlier, Heli-EXPO 2017 was a huge success and it only the beginning.

Until next time, fly safely,

Jamie
