You’ve probably picked up on this from my earlier blogs, but I really enjoy attending the various industry trade shows. Sure they’re a lot of work, but I think they’re an invaluable resource. Aviation is built on networking and there’s no better place than trade shows.
I’m especially excited about our upcoming trip to Dallas for the 2017 HAI Heli-EXPO for a number of reasons: Number one is we are going to make a really big announcement this year – no, I can’t share it with you now. You’ll just have to wait until March 6 and come by the Genesys Aerosystems booth (#8606) and hear/see the news for yourself. Believe me – it’s big!
And while I can’t give you details about our really big announcement – did I already say that? – I can tell you that we will also have our new integrated helicopter cockpit systems demonstrator in our booth.
If you’re even the slightest bit interested in advanced avionics this is a pretty cool bit of kit. It’s chock-full of everything Genesys offers for helicopters (and fixed-wing aircraft for that matter), including four 6” x 8” high-resolution LCD IDU-680 display units loaded with synthetic vision, Highway-In-The-Sky (HITS), helicopter TAWS, engine instruments, and a whole lot more.
The demonstrator also has Genesys HeliSAS with two-axis autopilot. While it’s not a “simulator” per se, the system does have the HeliSAS servos fully coupled to the collective and cyclic to give you a realistic feel of how the system integrates with the helicopter’s flight controls.
“Pilots” can just fly the demonstrator or with the push of a button, we can put the helicopter in an unusual attitude on the big screen and see and feel the HeliSAS inputs as it automatically returns the aircraft to a normal attitude. If a pilot doesn’t appreciate the value of a stability augmentation system, they will after five minutes in the demonstrator.
Of course, there’s more to it than HeliSAS. Pilots will get hands-on experience with all of our cockpit units and their operations in a variety of settings. Our demo team can put you on an approach to any airport in the world – and a few places that aren’t – to get a feel for our 3D Synthetic Vision or Highway-In-The-Sky or any of a host of other operational and safety-enhancing capabilities we’re offering.
To celebrate both the introduction of our amazing new integrated systems demonstrator and that bit of other BIG NEWS I hinted at earlier, we’re hosting a little reception at our booth (#8606) from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7th.
If you’d like to join in the fun, please RSVP here.
See you in Dallas,
Jamie
