I get asked this question all the time: “Why doesn’t Genesys Aerosystems sell its autopilots and avionics online?” Well, there are a number of reasons, but number one is the simple fact that our systems are very sophisticated and need to be installed by professionals. Contrary to what many people read on the Internet, autopilot installations, and setups in particular, are not DIY projects.

Las Vegas is one of those polarizing places: Some love it and others, well, not so much. I personally really enjoy our biennial visit to “Sin City.” Not that I’m much for the gaming tables. Being in general/business aviation is enough of a gamble for me. No, what I look forward to is our trip to the NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (BACE).

Hang around with a bunch of pilots long enough and the talk will inevitably turn to avionics upgrades. Sure, we all fantasize about a panel full of the latest, and coolest avionics. But, realistically how may of us can afford that? When the reality of a budget does come into play, the choice is often between EFIS or an autopilot upgrade. But who says you have to choose?
