’Tis the season to look back at how lucky we are...

It’s been a pretty good year for us at Genesys Aerosystems and I hope it has been for you as well. I try to cover a lot of topics in my blogs, but for this one I want to break the mold and just say how thankful I am to be part of the aviation world.

5 reasons to have your new avionics installed by an authorized shop.

I get asked this question all the time: “Why doesn’t Genesys Aerosystems sell its autopilots and avionics online?” Well, there are a number of reasons, but number one is the simple fact that our systems are very sophisticated and need to be installed by professionals. Contrary to what many people read on the Internet, autopilot installations, and setups in particular, are not DIY projects.

World-record Robinson R66 flight gets a helping hand from HeliSAS.

As the world’s largest maker of autopilots for airplanes and stability augmentation systems for light helicopters, Genesys Aerosystems equipment is involved with a lot of very interesting and often record-setting flights. Helicopter pilots love their HeliSAS and YouTube’s got the videos to prove it.

NBAA 2017: The business side of business aviation.

Paris Air Show 2017: Oh, how I missed you.

I didn’t make it to last month’s Paris Air Show. If you read my recent “Back from the U.S.S.R.” blog, you can pretty much appreciate that. As much as I love Paris-Le Bourget Airport’s biennial hosting of the Paris Air Show, I had had enough international travel for a while.

Back from the U.S.S.R. You don't know how lucky you are...

With apologies to The Beatles, traveling to Russia to represent Genesys Aerosystems can be really fun and exciting. But my recent trip to HeliRussia 2017 in Moscow was one instance when, well, it wasn’t. But let’s start at the beginning…

The ultimate panel upgrade decision: EFIS or Autopilot?

Hang around with a bunch of pilots long enough and the talk will inevitably turn to avionics upgrades. Sure, we all fantasize about a panel full of the latest, and coolest avionics. But, realistically how may of us can afford that? When the reality of a budget does come into play, the choice is often between EFIS or an autopilot upgrade. But who says you have to choose?

The ups-and-downs of autopiltot troubleshooting.

In an earlier blog, I - well, actually our Test Pilot, Chad Howard - answered a few questions on autopilot operations that came up at AERO Friedrichshafen. While operational questions were the majority, we did get a few pertaining to troubleshooting a particular issue called "pitch porposing."
