I can’t tell you how many aviation tradeshows I’ve attended over the years: Oshkosh, Sun ‘n Fun, AERO, NBAA, EBACE and all the rest – they’re all starting to blur together. Not that I don’t enjoy going. Getting to talk to all of the current and prospective customers that come to our booth to “test fly” our EFIS and autopilots is the best part of any event.

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Having never owned an “old dog,” I have to figure they’re right. But what I do know is that whether it’s through modern engine/airframe improvements or new-generation digital avionics and systems upgrades, there is an increasing number of ways for operators teach an array of aging aircraft some amazing new tricks.

As the autopilot experts, Genesys Aerosystems has designed, manufactured and sold over 40,000 autopilots in the last 40 years. Depending on the autopilot, there are between 1 to 4 servos installed in each system, which means there are over 100,000 servos flying. These are a combination of our standard servos which offer up to 75 in-lbs of torque and our heavy duty servos which provide up to 200 in-lbs of torq
